Russian Tennis Stars Speak Out Against Ukraine Invasion

Medvedev and Rublev Condemn War

Top Russian tennis players Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev have both spoken out against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Medvedev, the world number two, said in a statement on social media that he was "deeply saddened" by the events in Ukraine and called for "peace and resolution." Rublev, the world number eight, wrote "No war please" on a television camera lens after winning a match at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Rublev's Continued Advocacy

Rublev has been a vocal critic of the war since it began. He has repeatedly called for peace and expressed solidarity with the people of Ukraine. After winning a doubles title with Ukrainian Denys Molchanov in February, Rublev wrote "No war please" on the camera lens. He has also spoken out against the Russian government's decision to ban anti-war protests.
